Microsoft Songsmith, wtf?

By now I’m sure at least some of you have heard about Microsoft’s new app called Songsmith, the idea behind this application is actually pretty interesting. Essentually, you sing along to a beat that is played in Songsmith, and once you’ve finished singing the program will generate the music for you!
The Songsmith software analyzes your voice and it automatically creates music that fits your tone changes and pauses, it really sounds nifty doesn’t it?
The biggest problem with Soundsmith, aside from the horrible GUI, is the fact that the music it generates sounds like it came straight out of an old 80’s keyboard.. It’s horribly cheesy! For something that generates such bad quality music, it should be free! I can’t see this being anything more than a toy that you get bored with and put away after a couple of hours.
