TuneCore – I can’t say enough good things

by Lonnie on Feb.09, 2009, under Music

As I stated in a previous article, I use TuneCore to get my music published digitally to the masses.. These guys take my work and then they do all the leg work to get it on to iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster .. and many others..

When I completed effort on Equilibrium, which I also mentioned previously .. I made a very bad mistake at the last minute and didn’t even realize I had done it until after I submitted my music. TuneCore requires that mp3s be encoded in high quality, which makes sense!  but for previewing purposes and for promotional purposes, I had been encoding my music at a lower bitrate.. prior to uploading these tracks, I went through and re-encoded my files at the proper quality, as I’ve done many times before.

To my horror, after the music was submitted and I was previewing the newly encoded tracks in my car the next morning, I realized that I accidently enabled another drum track I had put together for one of the songs, rather than delete the drum track I simply muted it so that it wouldn’t come out in the encoded file and I wouldn’t lose the work incase I decided to go back to it at some point .. the result is that the song came out sounding like a huge mess!  I immediately wrote TuneCore support, and while I admittedly didn’t get a response for a couple of days, a very help guy by the name of Jake Smith jumped to the rescue and gave me a means to correct the problem before it was too late, he took the album out of “Finalized” status which let me re-upload a correct version and save myself a major embarassment.  He was even nice enough to provide a direct e-mail address so that I coulde let him know when it was ready to push out to the stores.

The moral of the story is that I should have previewed the work before submitting it, but I didn’t anticipate such trouble from simply re-encoding the files as I had done so many times before – stupid mistake!

Thanks again TuneCore!

Thanks for the kind words, and welcome to the family. Holler if you need anything!
