TuneCore – I feel like I’m home again
by Lonnie on Sep.18, 2010, under Uncategorized
A lot of time has passed since my various posts about WaTunes and TuneCore… as you know I cut my teeth with TuneCore and eventually left them for WaTunes…
If you browse the blog you’ll learn quicklly my issues covering all topics related to these two companies.. but I’m now back with TuneCore and it was a very pleasant experience .. the cost is higher than free of course, but you get what you pay for :)
The release cycle was very simple and pleasant, point and click all the way! i love that they now require raw wav files .. earlier in my experience it was mp3 files so this is a nice change and it means a higher quality product.
TuneCore also offers a very attractive “Widget” you can add to your site that allows your fans to listen to your work and buy right there without having to have any sort of e-com expertise ..
All in all, my experience with TuneCore has always been stellar, I am sorry I left them and I’m very happy to be back .. it’s like coming home…
PS. I am also a huge fan of the people behind TuneCore .. they are very responsive, friendly and have visited this blog on several occasions… Keep up the excellent work guys!
PS. PS. I never promote my work here, but I will this time.. mainly to show off the widget .. check out www.oneduality.com to see it in action.. and if you buy my album? I won’t argue :)

i675 Crash Update – Brennan Eden Out of ICU, Doesn’t Remember Accident.
by Lonnie on Sep.01, 2010, under Commentary, News and Events
Update: Police found no evidence of drugs or alcohol in Brennan’s Body ( blood results from the morning he was taken to the ICU )
Update: Brennan commented ( see below ) and the post has been updated to it’s final state.
Sunday night I was informed by someone who’s a friend of the Eden family that Brennan was released from the intensive care unit at Miami Valley Hospital. This doesn’t mean that he will be released from care any time soon as I imagine his injuries are significant. What I do know at this point is that he has no brain damage which is a very excellent sign despite the fact that he doesn’t remember anything about the accident at this time.
Memory loss after such an extreme accident isn’t uncommon, Brennan may recover some memory from the accident, but the chances of him actually remembering enough detail to shed light on what happened seconds before going off the road are slim to none in my honest opinion.
There have been numerous theories thrown around about the cause of this near tragedy, such as:
- Brennan was attempting to commit suicide – False
- Brennan’s accelerator was stuck – False
- Brennan fell asleep - I accept this as what happened
- Brennan was drunk, high or both – Officially disproven ( see update above )
- Brennan thought he could out run the police – False
- Brennan was being chased by police – Officially disproven ( I was there )
At the end of the day, none of this can be proven as true without getting into Brennan’s head and without his memory of the events, I don’t think any of these theories will be proven or dis-proven any time soon.
So what do we know? all we know are the facts and the facts don’t really support a lot of the theories that have been tossed around..
Am I angry with Brennan? not at all .. not in the very least. I wish him a quick recovery, I wish the best for his friends and Family .. and I hope that one day we can all truly understand what happened.. but most importantly, I hope Brennan realizes just how lucky he really is.. he not only survived the horrific crash, he survived being ejected hundreds of feet.. AND .. came within 10 feet from me running him over.. so he should also thank the manufacturer of my breaking system :)

Accident on south 675 here in Dayton/Sugarcreek was the worst thing I’ve ever witnessed.
by Lonnie on Aug.23, 2010, under Uncategorized
Update: The driver of the firebird is named Brennan Eden and apparently he’s in ICU right now, I’m surprised he’s hanging on. Hopefully he pulls through.
Second Update: I added my own copy of the youtube video, but I added annotations to help point out a few things.. see the bottom of this post
Third Update: Apparently police had Brennan in custody 20 minutes earlier in relation to drug paraphernalia and an unopened alcohol container.
Fourth Update: Someone pointed out to me today just how lucky Brennan is that I reacted so quickly because of this… I had my cruise control on and I was locked in at 65mph flat, at that speed you’re traveling 95.333 feet per second .. if I had been even half a second slower to apply my breaks, I would have ran him over and been at least 20 feet past him .. Kind of freaks me out to think about that.
——————————————————– Original Article Below:
This morning was like any other morning.. Up at 6:00am, out the door and on my way to work.
7:15am I am in the center lane heading to work like I always do when I noticed in my rear view this car moving VERY fast and passing cars on the shoulder, which was insane because the car to the back left of me was a police cruiser. I had no idea what this person could be thinking flying by a cop doing easily 100mph.
The next few seconds were absolutely surreal .. the firebird lost control and hit the guard rail at full speed, which launched the car into the air under the overpass/bridge .. my guess is at least 10-15 feet, probably more.. His car hit the center concrete support beam and then broke / exploded into 3 large pieces and a few smaller pieces.. Part of the car came to an immediate stop when he hit the beam, part of it went off into the oncoming traffic and fortunately did not hit anyone, and then the rear of the car went on another hundred feet or so .. The driver ( un named at the time I write this ) was ejected a couple hundred feet and landed quite literally 10 feet in front of my car where I had just managed to come to a full stop.
When I saw this man there on the shoulder of the road quite far from where it began, I didn’t know what I was looking at .. I was in complete and total shock, I at first thought it was a seat from the car, or some other form of debris.. 10 seconds or so later I realized what I was looking at and I got out of my car as fast as I could, I looked back to see parts of the car in flames and people getting out of their vehicles.. I saw a cop, the same cop this man flew by .. getting out of his car and people running to the wreckage.. I yelled “He’s over here!” and people came running.. He was miraculously still breathing but he was clearly a mess, he looked hardly anything like a person.
Within about 10 or 15 minutes, care flight arrived and they loaded the man and took off.. I was SURE he was gone by the time they arrived but apparently now, at last check nearly 8 hours later, he’s still alive and in critical condition and Miami Valley Hospital.
I’m fortunate, as are the others.. the amount of force needed to do this to a car, the amount of damage done and the sheer distance this man was thrown from his car.. it could have easily killed us if the debris didn’t land where it did.
My thoughts go out to him and his family.. He’s lucky to be alive, and I hope very much that it stays that way.

WaTunes Scam? The accusations have been flying about CEO Kevin Rivers.. Any truth?
by Lonnie on Aug.19, 2010, under Complaint Department
I began my music distribution through TuneCore back early on and I have to admit that my time with them was pretty good, the only thing I didn’t like was the fees .. as an up and comer, it didn’t make much sense for me to invest and keep paying until I built up a proper name and reputation so even though I was making money I decided to pull my music from TuneCore and then move it over to WaTunes for distribution.
My experience started out a little rough because the interface was HORRID but I did eventually work through it and things slightly improved with updated versions of their site, even though in the end it was still ugly and clunky. The CEO, Mr. Kevin Rivers .. was VERY helpful at first, spending time on the phone, replying to e-mails in a timely manner.. all seemed too good to be true.
After a few months I noticed that I’d not earned a single cent after I switched to WaTunes.. honestly I just thought nobody liked anything I was doing, but it was unusual because before I switched I was actually making money every month.. now nothing? so I decided to write Kevin and ask him about it.. he did say that he found there was an error and that they owed me some royalties! I was excited.. until I found out it was $7.00
I set out to write new material and work on some viral marketing ideas.. when I was ready to release the first single ( which has yet to be released now ) .. I contacted Kevin letting him know that I couldn’t find the option to upload my files anymore, he told me that they were no longer in the distribution business but that he could get it to iTunes if I wanted.. pissed off, I told him to immediately remove all my music from all the stores.. my business with WaTunes was now ended.
It wasn’t until I checked my site analytics and noticed a large number of searches finding my site looking for “WaTunes Scam” and “Kevin Rivers Scam” that I decided to look around myself .. obviously I’m not the only one who’s seemingly been ripped off or had a bad experience.
I’m not saying that Kevin took money from me, I’m not saying that WaTunes is a scam .. I am saying that my royalties dropped to practically nothing after switching and that apparently I’m not the only person who’s experience such oddities.
What’s your experience with WaTunes? Do you know a better, more trustworthy way to get your music in Amazon, iTunes and other online stores?
