This is particularly exciting for me because I was a huge FNM fan, and since then, I’ve become a fan of almost every other Mike Patton project! It’s hard to believe that the band broke up in 1998, it’s been a long time ..

Faith No More has announced its first live performances since splitting up in 1998. The band will play a series of European festival dates this summer, according to a statement from frontman Mike Patton’s publicist.

No North American Faith No More dates are scheduled at this time. As previously reported, only Patton and frequent collaborator Rahzel will perform at Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April, despite speculation about a Faith No More appearance.

Neither the lineup for the revived Faith No More nor the specific festival dates have been announced. Patton’s spokesperson Monica Seide said no further details on the band are yet available.

The news of Faith No More’s reunion comes as Patton completes his first film score, for “Crank 2: High Voltage,” which will hit theaters on April 17.

Patton and beatboxer Rahzel, meanwhile, have worked on an album that has not yet been officially released.

Faith No More’s biggest single, “Epic,” reached No. 9 on the Hot 100 in 1990. “Midlife Crisis” earned the band the top spot on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1992.

I realize this isn’t new by now but since I’m covering other NIN events, I decided it was worth mention.

For those of you too young to remember showbiz pizza, which I imagine is most of you! Rock-afire explosion was the animatronic band that performed in each showbiz pizza across the country until they were bought out by Chuck E. Cheeze and eventually got replaced by more kid friendly animatronic shows (aka .. sucky shows).

Many fans of the original Rock-afire explosion shows started buying up and restoring the equipment then began covering their favorite bands! Well, quite a few NIN fans put up a collection and arranged to have the creators of Rock-afire explosion put together a cover video of 1,000,000 … So stop wasting time! GO CHECK IT OUT!

Towards the beginning of my career in NINE INCH NAILS, our biggest break came in the form of an invitation to perform a series of shows with JANE’S ADDICTION. These performances essentially created and defined the term ‘alternative’ rock in the U.S., created an ongoing festival franchise that is still thriving (Lollapalooza), set the stage for NIRVANA to shift popular taste a few months later, and were really fucking FUN to play and attend — truly the best times I’ve had. The shows were epic. So epic, they propelled NIN to the ‘next level’ (whatever that means), but caused JANE’S to implode. The band broke up at the end of that tour.”

CLICK ON TO READ THE REST

“Fast forward to the present. Corporate rock STILL sucks. A friend tells me they saw the original JANE’S lineup play a tiny show in L.A. that was unbelievable. I break out my JANE’S records and am amazed by how vital they sound. These guys were the real deal and in this current climate mostly dominated by poseurs and pussies, it was refreshing to hear something that sounded dangerous, volatile, beautiful and SINCERE.

E-mails were sent, phone calls were made, dinner was arranged, ideas were discussed and the next thing I know we’re in the studio experimenting. We laugh, we get to know each other, we cry, we yell, we almost quit, we record LOTS of guitar solos, we discuss, we actually begin to all communicate, we yell some more, we become FRIENDS, we laugh again and we do some great things. I get to see first-hand why they broke up all those years ago but I also get the chance to see four distinct personalities that become an INCREDIBLE band when they’re in the same room.

In NIN world, 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of our first releases. I’ve been thinking for some time now it’s time to make NIN disappear for a while. Last year’s ‘Lights in the Sky’ tour was something I’m quite proud of and seems like the culmination of what I could pull off in terms of an elaborate production. It was also quite difficult to pull off technically and physically night after night and left us all a bit dazed. After some thought, we decided to book a last run of shows across the globe this year. The approach to these shows is quite different from last year — much more raw, spontaneous and less scripted. Fun for us and a different way for you to see us and wave goodbye. I reached out to JANE’S to see if they’d want to join us across the U.S. and we all felt it could be a great thing. Will it work? Will it resonate in the marketplace? Who knows. Is there big record label marketing dollars to convince you to attend? Nope. Does it feel right to us and does it seem like it will be fun for us and you? Yes it does.

Look for tour dates soon and I hope to see you out there.”

I just came accross an article article about NIN sharing rehearsal space with none other than Britney Spears, you can read all about it by clicking right here

There hasn’t been a lot of news in the NIN world lately, so when I came accross this I got a kick out of it. What does Trent think about Britney?

“I can hear the thumping low end of Britney Spears,” notes Reznor, who has such a dry sense of humour you’re not entirely sure when it’s safe to laugh. “It’s been a treat having them here the whole time we’ve been here.”

I wonder if we’ll be seeing a NIN remix of any of Britney’s new music? can I just say, I hope not?

The guys over at the NIN hotline have picked this up as well and had this quote from Britney’s manager to add..

“Brit has been sharing the same rehearsal space with NIN for the past few weeks and they are getting along famously. Maybe we should ask Trent Reznor to remix Circus?”

Crap! maybe a remix could happen after all :)

As I stated in a previous article, I use TuneCore to get my music published digitally to the masses.. These guys take my work and then they do all the leg work to get it on to iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster .. and many others..

When I completed effort on Equilibrium, which I also mentioned previously .. I made a very bad mistake at the last minute and didn’t even realize I had done it until after I submitted my music. TuneCore requires that mp3s be encoded in high quality, which makes sense! but for previewing purposes and for promotional purposes, I had been encoding my music at a lower bitrate.. prior to uploading these tracks, I went through and re-encoded my files at the proper quality, as I’ve done many times before.

To my horror, after the music was submitted and I was previewing the newly encoded tracks in my car the next morning, I realized that I accidently enabled another drum track I had put together for one of the songs, rather than delete the drum track I simply muted it so that it wouldn’t come out in the encoded file and I wouldn’t lose the work incase I decided to go back to it at some point .. the result is that the song came out sounding like a huge mess! I immediately wrote TuneCore support, and while I admittedly didn’t get a response for a couple of days, a very help guy by the name of Jake Smith jumped to the rescue and gave me a means to correct the problem before it was too late, he took the album out of “Finalized” status which let me re-upload a correct version and save myself a major embarassment. He was even nice enough to provide a direct e-mail address so that I coulde let him know when it was ready to push out to the stores.

The moral of the story is that I should have previewed the work before submitting it, but I didn’t anticipate such trouble from simply re-encoding the files as I had done so many times before – stupid mistake!

Thanks again TuneCore!
