“The lawsuit filed in Tampa, Fla., contends that 20-year-old Kyle Brennan shot himself in 2007 while with his Scientologist father, who allegedly took away Brennan’s medication and tried to put him into a church-oriented drug treatment program.”

The victim himself was not a Scientologist, but his father allegedly locked away his medication at the request of Church members. Church officials have denied responsibility in the young man’s death, saying the defendants weren’t Scientology leaders and the incidents all took place off church property.

Police have released more than 200 pages of documents from the investigation, and have not concluded that the Church was responsible for Brennan’s death. According to police, Brennan had been neglecting his medication for quite some time, although his mother’s lawyer contends that Brennan took the medication as needed.

The Times reports that prior to his death, Brennan suffered from depression, anxiety and early signs of schizophrenia. He had been prescribed the pills by his psychiatrist after exhibiting paranoid behaviors, and on the day of his death he left two notes claiming that people had failed him.

Louanne tries to make a sweeping generalization of who “Anonymous” is, almost as if they are one cohesive organization which they are not.

So what/who is Anonymous? it’s you … it’s me .. it’s your neighbor, it’s anyone out there with an opinion… even scientologists are Anonymous until they are not.

There are a large group of Anonymous people who are outraged by some of the things that have gone on in the name of Scientology, as well as the tactics of the “church”.

When you have such a large number of people who are outraged over something, there are always factions of people who act more aggressively than others, and those people do not reflect the views necessarily of the rest who dislike Scientology, so such a broad generalization is nonsense at best.

There are those who protest peacefully and work to present the facts to the world and let them decide for themselves, and naturally, it’s in Scientology’s best interest to put on a PR campaign and try to make Anonymous appear as sort of a terrorist group when in fact, each individual is responsible for their own actions.

How about a word from L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology’s founder… What do you think of all this Mr. Hubbard?

The next round of global protests will span several weekends. Anonymous claims its campaign has scored a number of successes over the last 12 months, since indignation at attempts to censor the infamous Tom Cruise Scientology ward ceremony video touched off the first round of protests against the church in January 2008, which initially involved online protests, nuisance calls and controversial attempts to blitz Scientology websites. February 2008 marked the start of a ongoing series of monthly protests outside Scientology offices and centres across the world.

The loosely-affiliated group aims to dismantle the Church of Scientology in its current form by exposing what it claims are the “corrupt and abusive practices” of organised Scientology through Project Chanology.

According to Anonymous, the campaign has led to leaks of internal documents and policies about the church. Protests on the streets have emboldened media organisation prompting, for example, Australian TV to screen Scientology lectures that show how adherents are told that all life’s anxieties and worries are “caused by the infestation of dead alien souls”. Upcoming lawsuits (examples here and here) will further expose the “scams and scandals” of the Church of Scientology.

The upcoming release of John Duignan’s book The Complex: An Insider Exposes the Covert World of the Church of Scientology, which is legally blocked from sale in the UK, will “serve to raise awareness about Scientology in the UK, as well as any country whose citizens heard about this censorship”.

In a statement, Anonymous said: “Scientology operatives still continue to paint Anonymous in a negative light as a means of distracting attention from Scientology operations and attempting to discredit those who bring truth to the issues at hand. It just isn’t working.

“It has been some 12 months – time to finish what was started”
